If you’ve never heard of the Honda Grom motorcycle, you’re missing something

The Honda Grom is a great beginner’s bike, but it appeals to all levels of enthusiasts. This motorcycle is low enough to the ground that you can easily set your foot down when needed. It’s not too heavy either, so it helps provide more stability as you take curves.

One of the attention-grabbing features of this bike is its ability to save on fuel. The tank holds 1.45 gallons, but Honda says many drivers have seen over 100 mpg. They estimate you could get up to 155 mpg. According to Cycle World, they didn’t see any estimates close to that, but they did get around 103 mpg, which is still very impressive.

Another positive point many have about the bike is that it can fit someone as tall as 6 feet four inches even though it looks small. The legs can hug the fuel tank, offering more control to the rider, no matter how fast they’re going.

With all that it offers motorcycle enthusiasts, it’s hard to imagine that it comes as one of the least expensive on the market. Honda priced it at $3,399 for the base price.

What does the 2022 Honda Grom offer?

The 2022 model brings a nice number of updates to the already impressive bike. For riding comfort, Honda brought in a more extended seat that has more cushion and lies flatter than the previous one. This makes longer jaunts easier to handle.

Powering it up is still a 125-cc, air-cooled, two-valve single engine that produces 9.7 hp paired with a five-speed transmission. However, it now has a stroke that’s longer than the previous model and a bore that’s a tad bit smaller. It also offers a removable oil filter and a larger airbox.

Braking and suspension components have remained relatively the same since last year’s model. The gearbox has been reworked slightly. Honda added a fifth gear to it, and the brand increased the rear sprocket size by just four teeth, but it’s enough to make a big difference when taking off.

How much more does the bike cost now from what last year’s version brought? Surprisingly, the Grom is still sitting at the same price as the 2021 model. The new updates didn’t affect the price at all.

How well does it stack up with some of its rivals?

The Honda Grom might seem like a dwarf compared to the big-named bikes, like Harley Davidson, but it holds its own. Motorcycle’s website proved that it could compete with some of its rivals, like the Kawasaki Z125 Pro, Kymco K-Pipe 125, and SSR Motorsports Razkull 125.

The course they chose was a 25-mile canyon road they were familiar with, which would be an uphill climb to the top. Then, after a lunch break, they would ride back down to the finish line, the same place they started. This is where Honda excelled, compared to the other bikes.

Honda’s Grom managed to pull away from its rivals on the uphill climb. However, the Kawasaki did manage to keep up with it, at least to a point. On the way down, though, the lead the Grom had held was no longer there.

The other bikes were able to stay side to side with it for most of the way. Honda’s Grom was still the best performer of the day, though.

The newest models, though, keep it near the top when you compare it to its rivals. It still offers plenty of fun, a low price, and top-notch fuel savings. What more could you ask for?
