For performance, buyers of the 2022 Honda CR-V have a choice of two powertrains: a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine (190 hp) and a hybrid (212 hp). In comparison, the 2022 Honda Accord offers three powertrain options: a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine (192 hp), a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (252 hp), and a hybrid (212 hp).

For efficiency, the gas-powered CR-V gets an estimated fuel economy of up to 28 city/34 highway mpg, and the CR-V Hybrid has a gas mileage of 40 city/35 highway mpg. In comparison, the gas-powered Accord has a fuel economy of up to 30 city/38 highway mpg, and the Accord Hybrid has a fuel efficiency of up to 48 city/47 highway mpg.

CR-V vs. Accord: Off-road capabilities and towing

If you want a Honda vehicle that you can take off-road, then the CR-V is the better choice for you. For one, unlike the Accord, the CR-V offers a traction-enhancing all-wheel drive system. Additionally, the CR-V has much higher ground clearance than the Accord (up to 8.2 vs. 5.8 inches).

The CR-V is also the best choice for towing. While the Accord is not recommended for towing, the CR-V has a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds.

For warranty coverage, both the CR-V and Accord have the backing of a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. 

The CR-V edges the Accord for reliability, though. It earned a J.D. Power reliability rating of 84/100, compared to 82/100 for the Accord.
