The 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is undoubtedly an absolute track weapon. However, it’s far from affordable. While the starting MSRP is “only” $76,555, available options can easily push the price of this spicy Mustang into the six-figure range. Some of the options, like the carbon package or handling package, make sense for being a costly expense. However, the jury is still out on paying $10,000 for painted racing stripes. At any rate, here’s what a fully loaded 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 costs.

A top-of-the-line GT500 costs over $110,000

Using the “Build Your Mustang” tool on the Ford website, you can dive into the costly options one can add to their 760 horsepower monster of a Mustang.

The term “fully loaded” seems to imply that the car has every option. However, that’s not really a possibility with the GT500. Some packages include components that are exclusive to that package, so to get one option, you have to remove another. That being said, this is the most expensive combination of options and packages. excluding the Heritage Edition.

First and foremost, the color choice is the newly available Code Orange. Not because it adds any cost, but just because it looks cool. However, the exterior gets a significant price bump with the Oxford White painted racing stripes that add a cool $10,000 to the build sheet.

The Technology Package adds a Bang & Olufsen 12-speaker system with a subwoofer in the trunk. It also adds a blind-spot warning system with cross-traffic alert, heated mirrors with memory positions, and a touchscreen navigation system. This upgrade costs $3,000.

The most expensive addition, though, is the carbon fiber track package. It adds 20-inch exposed carbon fiber wheels, adjustable strut top mounts, exposed carbon fiber instrumental panel and GT4 rear wing, a rear-seat delete, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Additionally, you get leather Recaro bucket seats. This package adds a whopping $18,500.

Finally, the only other item contributing to the cost is a car cover for $395. All said and done; this 2022 Mustang GT500 comes in at an eye-watering $112,445. Great news, though! You can finance it for a low monthly payment of only $1,910 per month at a five percent APR! A steal!

How much more does it cost than a 2022 Porsche 911?

Typically, the Porsche 911 and Ford Mustang are for entirely different uses. However, Ford developed the GT500 specifically to be an absolute weapon on track. So, it’s in the 911’s territory.

The 2022 Porsche 911 pricing starts at $101,200 for a base rear-wheel drive Carrera. However, the equivalent pricing to the GT500 leaves over $10,000 for options. Admittedly, that doesn’t get you very far with Porsche. You could add Porsche ceramic brakes to a base 911 Carrera for about the same price. That’s a substantial upgrade that makes a big difference on the track.

Of course, the base 911 has nearly 400 less horsepower than the GT500. It is, however, worth noting that a base Carrera 4 is also a bit cheaper than this GT500, coming in with an MSRP of $108,500. However, after delivery and handling fees, you’d basically be stuck with no options added to keep it on par with the Mustang’s pricing.

Ultimately, the GT500 is an amazing car both on the street and on the track. While its options can drag the price up to the territory of more “refined” sports cars, the GT500 absolutely dominates the available Porsche 911 models in a dollar-for-dollar comparison. In fact, in a video on the ISSIMI Official Youtube channel, racing legend Randy Pobst put down a lap time in a GT500 only two-tenths of a second slower than a Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

So, it’s expensive. However, it’s definitely worth it!
