As Ford’s small truck, the 2022 Maverick has been a huge success. It not only comes standard with a hybrid engine, but it also offers legitimate utility. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that the MSRP starts at under $25k. At the same time, the 2022 Ford Maverick has been facing some issues lately. A class-action lawsuit was filed against Ford due to faulty side curtain airbags.

You may want to check the airbags of your Ford Maverick

If you own a 2022 Ford Maverick, you might want to check if it is impacted by a recall. Apparently, the side curtain airbags on this small truck are faulty. And nearly 65,000 units are impacted by the recall. Of course, if your small truck does have a recall, the Blue Oval will fix it for free. So, it’s not like you have to pay for Ford’s mistake.

Maverick trucks that are affected are those produced between February 3, 2021, to July 9, 2022, so the issue is pretty widespread. If your pickup truck is impacted, you should have been notified back in September or November. But, it never hurts to check if you have an active recall or not.

Now, the recent lawsuit that was filed against the Ford Motor Company might not go anywhere in court. In John Solak v. Ford Motor Company, apparently, the plaintiff did not actually experience any damage from the fault. Some might even say that the lawsuit is frivolous in nature.

Does the 2022 Ford Maverick have recalls?

With this airbag recall, the Maverick is now up to five recalls in its short life. But, it is worth noting that it’s not unusual for a new vehicle to have issues such as this. A manufacturer can only test for so much before a vehicle actually hits the streets in mass numbers. And, at least the faulty airbags are now a known problem.

This is not the first class-action lawsuit filed against an automaker, and it probably won’t be the last. In fact, Ford has faced this kind of problem in the past with the Ford Focus and its dual-clutch automatic transmission. It’s unclear how the ruling will go in terms of this airbag issue, though.

Is there a fix for this recall?

In terms of the Ford Maverick recall, Ford has stated that it has a fix. According to the lawsuit, though, the fix does not actually fix the problem. Though, it is possible that the recall fix is effective.

According to autoblog, the best way to handle this issue is to contact your local dealership. They should be able to inform you if your Maverick does have a recall, and they will fix the problem for free. That is just a part of the recall process.

Despite some issues with recalls, the Ford Maverick does remain a popular small truck. In terms of sales, it is beating rivals like the Hyundai Santa Cruz. And, if you look at the 2023 Maverick, it does not look like that popularity is dying down any time soon.
