Since its arrival on the market, the 2022 Ford Maverick has received great fanfare. In fact, this compact pickup truck has been so popular that Ford was forced to place a pause on orders for the 2022 model. So, while it may not be possible to order a new Ford Maverick now, some buyers are still waiting on their trucks to arrive. And, Ford has not been the best with providing updates on this small pickup. This has caused some future Maverick owners to be in the dark regarding the status of their new truck.

Ford has paused orders for the 2022 Maverick

While new Maverick trucks are still being built, customers cannot currently place an order for this new pickup. Demand for Ford’s small truck has surpassed supply, so prospective buyers must wait until August of 2022 to order this pickup. Some current orders have even been pushed back to the 2023 model year.

Unfortunately, if you have not already ordered a Ford Maverick, the best way to get one is at a dealership. And that is if you can even find one for sale. The 2022 Maverick is not lasting long on dealership lots, which is a reflection of just how popular this pickup is.

Ford Maverick buyers feel in the dark about their orders

According to Ford Authority, Ford has not been the most forthcoming with information regarding the 2022 Maverick. Buyers who ordered this truck as far back as last year have not yet received updates on where their order is in the queue or if they will be receiving a 2023 Maverick instead of the 2022 model. Understandably, this is causing some frustration, as a new truck certainly isn’t cheap. Even with the Maverick having a base price of around $20,000.

The Ford Motor Company has said it is providing updates to those waiting on the Maverick via email, but apparently, some buyers have yet to hear anything. In the face of supply chain issues and chip shortages, many manufacturers have faced inventory problems. At the same time, it is an understandable annoyance to not have any specifics on when you should be expecting to take delivery of your pickup.

When can you buy a Maverick?

Ford has stated that orders for the 2023 Maverick will open up later this fall. It’s unclear whether or not a similar situation will happen once customer orders reopen. Will buyers be forced to wait months until they have a Maverick in their driveway? Only the future will tell, but hopefully, the blue oval has been working to ramp up supply in order to meet demand.

With such an attractive truck like the Maverick, a vehicle that has even been convincing non-truck owners that maybe a pickup is a good choice, it is disappointing that many feel in the dark. Until supply chain issues are resolved, this may be the new normal for those looking to buy a new car. Especially one as popular as the 2022 Ford Maverick has been.
