The 2022 Ford F-250 is a very large pickup truck that has enough going for it to be ranked third of the Best Full Size Trucks of 2022 by J.D. Power. It’s huge, powerful, and can tow a whole lot. Still, the F-250 isn’t a perfect pickup, and if you’re thinking about buying one, you’ll want to know what current owners love – and don’t – about their trucks. Here are the three biggest things J.D. Power says people don’t like about the new Ford F-250.

1. 2022 Ford F-250 problems include normal handling

One of the things that current owners of the 2022 Ford F-250 don’t like about their pickup trucks is its handling. J.D. Power says that during the first 90 days of ownership F-250 owners didn’t love “How well your vehicle steers/handles in normal conditions.”

This is unsurprising, considering that the F-250 is such a large truck. Car and Driver says that the F-250 does better when it’s actually carrying something. In fact, “unladen the ride is stiff and bouncy, but those sensations smooth out when the bed is loaded up or a trailer is hooked on.” There is an optional adaptive steering, but it does little to quell the problems with the 2022 Ford F-250’s steering.

2. Fuel economy in the Ford F-250 is disappointing

You might expect that fuel economy in the 2022 Ford F-250 would be lackluster. It is, after all, a massive pickup truck. Yet fuel economy was still one of the top three things that owners of the F-250 didn’t like about their new trucks in the first 30 days of ownership. Specifically they were unhappy with “Overall fuel economy and driving range of your vehicle/driving range and speed of charging your vehicle.”

It’s hard to give an exact mpg for a truck like the Ford F-250. That’s because the EPA doesn’t test the fuel economy of huge pickup trucks. Instead, we have to rely on independent testing to get an idea of the 2022 F-250’s average mileage. For example, Car and Driver tested the Ford truck and found that it got roughly 15 mpg.

3. F-250 owners are unhappy with vehicle driver assistance

The third and final 2022 Ford F-250 problem has to do with vehicle driver assistance. Current owners of the Ford Heavy-Duty truck don’t like how this feature operates. J.D. Power says they are unhappy with “Experience of using your vehicle’s driver assistance systems.”

The 2022 Ford F-250 driver assistance systems include automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and a multi-view camera system. Other safety features include automatic high beams and adaptive cruise control.

The 2022 Ford F-250 may be the third best large heavy-duty pickup truck, but it isn’t without its problems. If you decide to buy the Ford F-250 despite what current owners say about it, just make sure you pay attention to what others are noticing. The vehicle assistance systems, handling, and fuel economy are worth paying extra special attention to if you decide to take the F-250 for a test drive.
