The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is the most capable Bronco model in production. The Bronco is known for its off-roading prowess, so consumers can only imagine how capable its most well-equipped model is. Raptor models were once reserved for the Ford F150 nameplate. Now, the Blue Oval has created a Bronco Raptor so the small SUV could realize its full off-road potential.

The smaller Bronco Raptor isn’t quite as intimidating or ferocious as its predecessor, but it isn’t to be trifled with either. Here’s a breakdown of the vehicle’s specs and the value it provides for its price.

2022 Ford Bronco Raptor features and specs

The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor uses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine to make a whopping 400 horsepower. This is more powerful than any other Bronco, including the Ford Bronco First Edition. A small SUV that produces 400 horses is nothing short of monstrous.

The small off-road SUV comes with a higher-speed stabilizer bar disconnect. It also features a Raptor Hoss 4.0 suspension with Fox 3.1 live valve shocks. The Ford Bronco Raptor has huge 37-inch tires. It has the widest stance of any Bronco model in production.

In the video above, professional desert racer Shelby Hall puts the Ford Bronco Raptor to the test. The experienced driver takes the small SUV through Johnson Valley, California, at high speeds. Shelby is able to climb jagged rocks using the Bronco Raptor and easily tear through the rough desert terrain. Hall’s grandfather Rod Hall is an Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame Inductee.

Chances are that you won’t be able to have the same off-roading experience that Shelby Hall does in the Ford Bronco Raptor, but the average driver can still get big thrills out of the small SUV. Now that you know what the Bronco Raptor is capable of let’s explore whether it’s worth its price or not.

How much does the Ford Bronco Raptor cost?

According to Motor1, the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor starts at $69,995. This is $22,215 more than the 2022 Ford Bronco Wildtrak high-speed off-roading trim. The Wildtrak comes with Ford’s Sasquatch Package, which includes front and rear locking differentials, Bilstein position-sensitive monotube shocks, and a high-clearance suspension.

While the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is impressive, it hasn’t necessarily shown us anything we haven’t seen from other Bronco models. The small SUV has a higher starting price than the larger 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor. Since the F-150 Raptor boasts 450 horsepower, the Bronco’s higher price is perplexing, to say the least.

A 2022 Ford Bronco Wildtrak with all the fixin’s will save you thousands and provide a similar experience off-roading. Unless you plan on any competitive desert racing, the Bronco Raptor is a pass for most consumers in terms of fair cost per value. As with other Bronco models, there’s a high chance that the Raptor will sell out quickly and be resold for nearly double its MSRP.
