The Dodge Challenger is typically locked in battle with the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro for the muscle car crown. However, if you want a fast, attainable coupe, your options extend beyond the muscle segment. The 2022 Toyota Supra is swift, tight, and refined. In the unlikely comparison of a 2022 Dodge Challenger and a 2022 Toyota Supra, which car comes out on top?

In base model format, the 2022 Toyota Supra 2.0 is much quicker than the 2022 Dodge Challenger. With just over 300 horsepower, the Challenger SXT lacks the grunt necessary to move its colossal weight. However, the Supra 2.0 is light and nimble. While 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque might not seem like a cascade of power, it is more than sufficient to motivate the Supra 2.0 to sixty in just 4.9 seconds.

The news doesn’t get any better for Dodge fans at higher trims if you’re comparing the vehicles based on price points. With its monstrous naturally-aspirated 6.4L V8, the potent Dodge Challenger Scat Pack produces 485 horsepower and will sprint to sixty in just over four seconds. However, the comparably priced Toyota Supra 3.0 makes 382 horsepower, which is more than enough to beat the big Dodge. The Supra 3.0 can dash to sixty in just 3.8 seconds.

However, it should be said that if money is no issue, the Dodge Challenger has more to offer. Although it will cost shoppers far more than a Supra 3.0, the 2022 Dodge Challenger Hellcat line offers horsepower figures starting at 717. Car and Driver recommends the Hellcat Redeye Widebody, which will smash a run to sixty in just 3.6 seconds.

Which car is more expensive?

At the bottom of the trim levels, the 2022 Dodge Challenger SXT is cheaper to acquire than a Toyota Supra 2.0. Specifically, the SXT has a starting MSRP of $32,025, while the Supra 2.0 will set you back $44,565. However, the Supra 2.0 is a lighter, more efficient, and faster sports car.

Comparing the Scat Pack and the Toyota Supra 3.0 is a more apt proposal. According to TrueCar, the Supra 3.0 has a starting MSRP of $52,915. Similarly, a Challenger Scat Pack will set you back a starting price of $45,750, or $51,745 for the Widebody.

Should you buy a Challenger or a Supra?

Comparing a 2022 Dodge Challenger and a Toyota Supra is like comparing a baseball and a paper airplane. Both items move through the air, but that’s about it for the similarities. On the one hand, the Challenger is a brute with engine options that will push above 800 horsepower. On the other hand, the Supra 3.0 is a finely tuned instrument of lightness and engineering.
