Here at MotorBiscuit, we love minivans. Their practicality, fuel efficiency, and unrivaled levels of comfort make minivans a much wiser choice for budding families than your average SUV. In the past year, we have been able to test out the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica and the Toyota Sienna. Here is a quick real-world comparison between the two.

The 2022 Toyota Sienna offers far better fuel economy than the Chrysler Pacifica

We tested the 2022 Toyota Sienna and Chrysler Pacifica for a week each. During both tests, we put both minivans through their paces by driving them in mixed city and highway situations. At the end of the week with the 2022 Pacifica, we averaged 20.7 mpg. This was mainly due its gas-only V6 engine under the hood, which is far less fuel efficient than its hybrid-powered counterpart.

The Toyota Sienna, on the other hand, averaged 33 mpg during the week we tested it. That’s a far better figure than that of the Pacificas. So if fuel efficiency is important to you, we suggest checking out the Sienna. However, the Pacifica Hybrid could be a worthy option as well.

Both minivans are tied when it comes to features

Minivans are known to have large feature sets that are great for the whole family, and the Sienna and Pacifica are no exceptions. The Toyota Sienna is available with handy features like stowable third row, seven USB ports, a 9-inch infotainment screen, and rear-seat entertainment system, and a plethora of safety features.

The Chrysler Pacifica has a lot of the same features, including rear-seat screens with Amazon Fire TV connectivity, a FamCam cabin monitor, and a large infotainment screen as well. The Pacifica’s main highlight is its Stow-n-Go seating, where the second and third rows can conveniently fold into the floor to convert the Pacifica into a cargo van.

Overall, both of these vans have a lot to offer. So it’s the buyer’s choice when it comes to picking features in each one.

The Toyota Sienna’s interior feels a little more spacious and comfortable

Although the Chrysler Pacifica bests the Toyota Sienna when it comes to head, hip, and legroom measurements in all three rows, we like the spacious feeling of the Sienna. The dashboard in the Sienna has a simpler design, and it sits farther forward, giving the front seat area a cavernous feel.

However, there’s plenty of space in the Pacifica as well. So if buyers go that route, they won’t be disappointed.

If we had to pick between these two vans, we would choose the 2022 Toyota Sienna. The Sienna is a great all-around performer when it comes to fuel efficiency, comfort, style, and features. The best part is that every Sienna trim is equipped with the same hybrid powertrain so that a 30 mpg-plus fuel efficiency rating can be obtained even at the $35,000 level.

On the other hand, you’ll have to shell out close to $50,000 for the base Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The Pacifica is still an amazing van, and it’s worth checking out, but the Sienna definitely deserves to be on every van shopper’s shortlist.
