Give it up for the Chevrolet Tahoe. It’s gaining ground in the ongoing SUV battle. It’s starting to take down the 2022 Ford Expedition in multiple areas, which is surprising. The Expedition has been the best-ranking option for years, but the 2022 Chevy Tahoe is changing things.

According to AutoWeek, the 2022 Chevy Tahoe could last longer than the 2022 Ford Expedition. On the list of the top 10 vehicles with the longest potential lifespan, the Tahoe is in 7th place. It could reach 250,338 miles.

It beats the Toyota Highlander, Toyota Avalon, and the Honda Ridgeline. Also, the Toyota Tundra is in the first place, with the potential to reach 296,505 miles. Also, the Ford Expedition isn’t in the top 10.

But it’s not all bad news for the Expedition. It made it into the top 20. It came in 11th place with the potential to make it past 244,682 miles.

Also, this list is based on the average odometer readings for vehicles sold for at least 10 of the past 20 years.

The Tahoe actually has a maximum lifespan of 200,000 to 300,000 miles. It should be able to reach 250,000 miles without much trouble. The Expedition is expected to last between 200,000 to 250,000 miles, but some models are still going with over 300,000 miles.

Does the 2022 Tahoe have a good resale value?

Yes, the 2022 Chevy Tahoe has a great resale value. In fact, according to the annual AGL Residual Value awards, the Tahoe has the best resale value. We’re not sure what score the Ford Expedition got because only the winners were announced.

The awards are based on which vehicles are projected to maintain the most of their MSRP value after three years of ownership. Over 284 models were evaluated for used vehicle performance, brand outlook, and product competitiveness.

Other segment winners include the Toyota Tundra, Ford Bronco, Kia Telluride, Toyota Tacoma, Honda Passport, and Mazda CX-30.

On a larger scale, the Chevy Tahoe is expected to depreciate by about 33 percent after five years of ownership to maintain a resale value of $44,866.

The Ford Expedition is projected to depreciate by about 37 percent after five years of ownership to maintain a $46,333 resale value. This isn’t fair behind.

You can get started with a 2022 Chevy Tahoe for about $52,000, while the top-spec High Country trim increases the price to around $71,100. It has six trim levels available.

The 2022 Ford Expedition begins at around $52,405, while the range-topping Platinum configuration brings it up o $79,560. It also offers six trims.

So the most expensive Tahoe is about $8,000 less than the highest-priced Expedition. This tracks since the Tahoe is expected to remain more value.

While the Expedition can tow up to 9,300 lbs and the Tahoe can only tow up to 8,400 lbs, the Tahoe makes up the difference with more passenger and cargo space.

It could also be attracting more buyers because it’s considered to be longer lasting. It could provide more miles while stretching your dollar further.
