The 2022 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Continues to Thrive Off-Road

The Chevy Colorado is a mid-size truck that entered production in 2004 to replace the Chevy S-10 pickup truck. After a brief hiatus in 2013, the truck returned in 2014 and has remained in production ever since. And despite being the smaller sibling of the Chevy Silverado, this truck offers some notable capability. Especially when the ZR2 package is considered. An option that makes the Colorado a mid-size truck that is ready for off-road duty.

What is the ZR2 package?

The ZR2 dates back to 1994 and adds some off-road capability to Chevy trucks. And in 2022, it can still come equipped to the Chevy Colorado. It is a more expensive option than the Z71 package, but it does feature more equipment. And to some drivers, that may be worth it.

The ZR2 package adds improved shocks, skid plates and rock sliders, and a factory-installed lift. The ZR2 package is only available with four-wheel drive. But, you can get it with both the 3.6-liter V6 engine and 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine. So, in terms of powertrains, buyers will have options depending on their preference.
