The T4 Momentum comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that makes 187 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque, according to Edmunds. On the other hand, the XC40 comes with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a digital instrument panel. It has a push-button ignition, an eight-speaker sound system, and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2022 Volvo XC40 is safer than the 2022 BMW X1. The XC40 is an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ winner. The X1 didn’t win any safety awards from the IIHS. If safety is your priority, you’ll want to choose the XC40.
