If you’re the type to focus on gas mileage, there’s not much difference with either vehicle. The Audi Q7 has 19 mpg for city driving, 23 mpg for highway driving, and 21 mpg combined. In comparison, the Acura MDX receives 19 mpg for city driving, and 25 mpg for highway driving, with a combined mpg of 21. The Audi Q7 is slightly taller, but the Acura MDX is somewhat broader.

The 2022 Audi Q7 has an overall length of 199.3 inches, a width of 77.6 inches, and a height of 68.5 inches. For comparison, the 2022 Acura MDX has an overall length of 198.4 inches, a width of 78.7 inches, and a height of 67.1 inches. The Audi has slightly more headroom and legroom than the Acura. 

The front and back headroom spaces are 39.9 inches and 38.8 inches, while the front and back legroom space on the Audi Q7 is 41.7 inches and 38.8 inches, respectively. For the engines, per Autotrader, the 2022 Acura MDX has more horsepower but less torque. It has a 3.5-liter V6 engine, 290 hp at 6,200 rpm and 267 lb-ft at 4,700 rpm for torque. In contrast, the 2022 Audi Q7 has a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine with 248 hp at 5,000 rpm and 273 lb-ft at 1,600 rpm for torque. The two midsize luxury SUVs have an automatic transmission, but the Audi has an 8-speed automatic while the Acura has a 10-speed automatic.

Safety is one of the top concerns people have in mind when getting a new or used vehicle. The 2022 Acura MDX received an overall safety rating of five out of five stars from NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), while the 2022 Audi Q7 has yet to receive a rating at the time of this writing.

Is the Audi Q7 or Acura MDX worth the money?

The 2022 Audi Q7 and the 2022 Acura MDX are both excellent choices for a midsize luxury SUV. The MSRP for the 2022 Acura MDX is $48,000, while the MSRP lists the 2022 Audi Q7 for $57,500. 

The Acura has a little more horsepower and a perfect safety rating from the NHTSA, while the Audi has yet to receive a rating.
