The Q4 50 starts at $49,900, and the Q4 Sportback 50 starts at $52,700. These trim levels all come with varying amounts of technology, features, and differences. There are two available options for the home charger installation. One is included in the price of the vehicle, the other will cost an extra fee. Electricians will install a NEMA 14-50 power outlet upgrade that gets level 2, 240-volt charging. That is the only available option included with the price of the vehicle. According to Tesla, this charger allows a Tesla to draw up to 32 amps (7.6 kW at 240 volts). Miles per hour charged varies per model, but the Tesla Model 3 charges 30 miles per hour using the NEMA 14-50 power outlet upgrade. That can give drivers a rough idea of how the standard charging method will perform with the Audi Q4 e-tron.

The other charging option is an Electrify America HomeStation and concierge service. The charger currently costs $649 from Electrify America, though there is likely an upcharge if purchasing through Audi. Owners may be able to get the charger directly from Electrify America after opting for the “free” option from Audi. The HomeStation has 9.6 kW of power at 40 amps. Electrify America claims the charger can provide 33 miles of range per hour, which isn’t much improvement over 30.

Specs and features

The Audi Q4 50 and Q4 50 Sportback have twin motors producing 295-horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. The range estimate is 241 miles, which isn’t great compared to other electric crossovers like the 326-mile Tesla Model Y Long Range or even the 260-mile Volkswagen ID.4 Pro. The Q4 50 and Q4 50 Sportback can reach 60 mph in 5.8 seconds.

The less expensive Q4 e-tron, and the one that starts at $43,900, only uses one motor. It will likely have a greater driving range because of the lack of power, which drops down to 201-hp. The range could be the same or similar to the previously mentioned Volkswagen ID.4 Pro, with which it shares a platform. 19-inch wheels are standard, but the Sportback 50 trim gets slightly bigger 20-inch wheels. A 10.1-inch center infotainment screen is standard in all trims, and more technology is optional for all trim levels.

As with all vehicles, there are always extras you can choose to throw in if you want to pay the price. For the Q4 e-tron, an augmented reality heads-up display or the S Line Plus package. The augmented reality heads-up display is new to this Audi model and provides real-time information in the driver’s line of sight. Information like a speedometer, the current road’s speed limit, navigation tips, and more appear on the windshield so you never have to take your eyes off the road. The S Line Plus package adds black trim pieces on the exterior, a brushed aluminum inlay, a steering wheel with a flat top and bottom, and sport front seats. The Convenience package adds a hands-free power-opening tailgate, Audi advanced key, a heated steering wheel, and much more for $1,800.

This brand new electric crossover from Audi is configurable on Audi’s website right now. It is expected in dealerships by the end of 2021. The price and features included in the new all-electric crossover from Audi might be what you expected, but did you know the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron’s price tag includes a home charger installation?
