If you’re shopping for a luxury compact crossover, you’ve likely taken notice of these two choices. The 2022 Acura RDX and the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC are excellent daily drivers and come well-equipped. Each has advantages over the other, though one takes the cake over its opponent. Here’s how the Acura RDX compares to the Mercedes-Benz GLC.

Acura RDX vs. Mercedes-Benz GLC

Both of these compact crossovers have advantages over one another. However, a few things are precisely the same about the pair. Firstly, both have optional all-wheel drive instead of standard throughout the lineup. Next, high safety ratings make these ideal models for drivers with families who frequently ride along. Finally, not only do the two models have excellent base engines providing plenty of power, they don’t skimp on fuel economy either. For SUVs of their size and strength, the 2022 Acura RDX and 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC get decent gas mileage.

Possibly the most essential advantage any vehicle can have over another: price. The Acura RDX starting price is noticeably more affordable than the Mercedes crossover offering. For example, the cheapest available RDX model starts at $40,100. Contrarily, the GLC base model starts at $43,850. Additionally, the RDX comes in five different trim levels, which range in price around $15,000.

Alternatively, the Mercedes-Benz GLC doesn’t come in “trim levels.” Instead, buyers choose to purchase one, then optionally buy AWD, feature upgrades, and the many available packages. It ends up being the same thing, but we think trim levels are easier to understand and are usually more cost-effective. However, purchasing the AMG variants of the GLC boosts overall performance.

Finally, the RDX has more front and rear legroom for passengers than the GLC. Acura’s compact crossover is surprisingly roomy on the inside. That’s another of the most essential features for any crossover or SUV. Between these two luxury models, passengers will feel more comfortable in the spacious cabin of the Acura RDX.

While the Acura model focuses on affordability and practicality, the Mercedes-Benz GLC is more performance-focused. Firstly, the GLC has multiple engine choices, which the RDX does not. While Acura’s 272-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder is an excellent option, more engine options are always positive. The Mercedes-Benz GLC standard powertrain is a 255-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder. Opting for the AMG GLC 43 gets you a turbocharged V6 making 385 horsepower, then the AMG GLC 63 gets a turbocharged V8, with an output of 469 horsepower. Finally, the most expensive engine is in the AMG GLC 63 S, and it’s another V8, this time outputting a whopping 503 horsepower.

Finally, KBB notes the interior as one of the most significant GLC advantages. Inside the compact crossover, the GLC is comfortable and luxurious. It has a spacious interior, made entirely from high-quality, expensive-feeling materials. Even the base model has luxurious standard equipment like dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, and heated cushions. Amazingly high-end upgrades include leather surfaces, a head-up display, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, and so much more.

Which compact crossover is right for you?

The 2022 Acura RDX features an excellent driving experience, a roomy interior, and high-quality craftsmanship, particularly with the handling package. It performs well enough for most people and is much more affordable than its competition. We think standard 272 horsepower for a few thousand dollars less than the Mercedes-Benz option is a huge advantage.

On the other hand, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC is a superb performance compact crossover. The AMG variants are expensive, but a V8 engine with over 500 horsepower is challenging to pass up. Additionally, the GLC will always have an extravagant interior, no matter which model you buy. If you’ve got the money and you’re willing to spend it, this Mercedes-Benz compact crossover is an excellent choice.
