If you need a little extra space, then the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan is an excellent option to consider. The Volkswagen Tiguan can deliver a few incredibly important features that drivers should be aware of while shopping.

Is the 2021 Volkwagen Tiguan a good SUV?

Yes, the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan is a great SUV to consider. I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing the VW Tiguan SEL model for an entire week. I named this sleek SUV Tiger because it’s sleek, capable, and efficient.

The VW Tiguan begins at about $25,245. Moving up in trim levels to the SEL increases the price to about $32,000. It includes goodies such as V-Tex Letherette seats, a power liftgate, four-wheel independent suspension, and adaptive cruise control. It also checks three crucial boxes.

1. The Tiguan is fun to drive

The 2021 VW Tiguan comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that pumps out 184 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. 184 hp may sound low, but the Tiguan can get after it. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.2 seconds. This is the perfect amount of power for merging into traffic or passing others.

The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan does have automatic start and stop technology, but it doesn’t have a delay. When the engine shuts off at red lights, it quickly fires right back up once you hit the acceleration to get off the line.

There is a limited amount of body roll around curves with responses and sporty handling. The braking feels stable and confident. I’ve been traveling around mountain roads and wish I had a model with all-wheel drive to test on light off-roading trails.

2. The Volkswagen Tiguan’s interior is outstanding

The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan SEL is incredibly comfortable with an upscale, luxury feeling. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is a nice touch, and it’s heated. The faux-leather seats are plush and supportive for longer rides. You can adjust the driver’s seat to fit your personal lumbar support needs.

Beautiful soft-touch materials with chrome accents line the dash. Plus, the large panoramic sunroof includes a powered cover. You can open the cover all the way, or halfway, allowing you to control how much light enters the cabin.

The VW Tiguan rides on 19-inch wheels that provide a smooth ride. The cabin is relatively quiet until you reach highway speeds. Aside from an occasional engine roar, the ride is pretty relaxing and engaging.

3. The VW Tiguan is spacious

The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan is larger than expected on the inside. There are deep door pockets, ample glove box space, and a deep center console for organizing your belongings. There is also a sizable tray in the dash.

With the Tiguan, you get between 12 to 37.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats with up to 73.5 cubic feet total. Every time I’ve opened the liftgate, people have been surprised by the massive trunk area.

The SEL is available with or without the third row. It’s important to note that the third row is for small children only. The VW Tiguan feels more useful with the third row folded flat. My week with this SUV is still going, so I’ll keep you updated as I learn more about its pros and cons.
