Hybrid cars are all the rage this year, and the 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid is no exception. As the industry reviews and the best-of lists come in, the Corolla Hybrid is winning big in a few key categories. Among the many benefits and amenities that the Corolla Hybrid offers, safety and efficiency are some of this small sedan’s best attributes. Taking a look at what you get with this year’s Toyota Corolla Hybrid, buying it can mean major wins for you too.

Safety comes standard with the Toyota Corolla Hybrid

Most new vehicles this year come with hefty menus of safety features and driver aids. Technology is improving how people can be safe in their cars. But the 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid makes safety a standard with everything it brings to the table. Edmunds says to expect hands-free connectivity for safe communication from behind the wheel with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa for starters.

This hybrid sedan also harnesses the tech platform of Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, a comprehensive suite of driver aids. Some of the many standard features include pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane departure warnings with steering assist, and adaptive cruise.

But there’s also a rearview camera, road sign assist, and a lane-tracing assist technology that recognizes lines on the road. These types of driver assistance features are often only optional in other vehicles. The only optional driver aid we could find for the Toyota Corolla Hybrid is blind-spot monitoring.

The crash-test ratings and results are impressive

Some people are under the assumption that small cars aren’t as safe as other vehicles. Maybe their small stature implies vulnerability during a collision or fender-bender. The 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid proves that notion wrong as it earns a Top Safety Pick designation from the IIHS.

In crash testing simulations, shared by U.S. News, from the front, side, roof angles, the Corolla Hybrid earns “Good” ratings across the board. And the NHTSA gives this little sedan five stars in its overall crash test rating evaluation.

Hybrid fuel efficiency perks too

MotorTrend featured five things their teams loved about the 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid, and fuel efficiency made that shortlist. The Corolla Hybrid offers one simple LE trim and one gas and battery-powered motor. Consumers will love the smooth-shifting continuously variable automatic transmission and the 121 horses. They’ll also love getting more than 50 mpg. The EPA rated this model at 53 mpg city mileage, 52 mpg on the highway, and 52 mpg overall. That’s comparable to the fuel efficiency champion Toyota Prius.

U.S. News also put together a list of the safest small cars available this year. The 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid comes in seventh with an overall U.S. News Safety Score of 9.7 out of a possible 10. Other factors that contributed to the ranking of these 14 safe small cars are the scores assigned by both the IIHS and NHTSA. Based on these, along with the monster list of safety features and driver aids, the Corolla Hybrid is an overachiever.

If you’re looking at small cars this year, take some time to meet the 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid. It’s a winner in terms of safety and fuel efficiency. Buying the Corolla Hybrid for yourself will likely make you a winner too.
