2021 Ram 1500 TRX Rendered as Ramcharger

Those of us that are old enough can remember a day when the two-door SUV reigned. There was the full-size Ford Bronco, Chevrolet K5 Blazer, and the Dodge Ramcharger. But, then smaller, four-door SUVs became all the rage. So, those three models were given the old boot out of the respective automakers’ lineups. Now the Bronco is back, albeit in a smaller format. So, what would a modern interpretation of the Chevrolet K5 Blazer and the Dodge Ramcharger look like? Well, one artist decided to take a shot at answering those questions with today’s Silverado and Ram 1500 as the starting points.

The modern Silverado Z71 Blazer

The Instagram account, wb.artist20, took the new body style of the Chevrolet Silverado Z71 and massaged it a bit. The new rendering shows the familiar front face of the pickup, the two doors, and out back it has the new, full length, seamless, enclosed cab mated to the front. It is a pretty neat interpretation.

The modern two-door Ramcharger

The artist tried his hand also at the Ramcharger. In the post below, he rendered a two-door version based on the Ram 1500 platform. He added a double panoramic roof as a nice touch on the long roof stretches back to the tailgate. The Ram 1500’s wheelbase was also shortened to be more in keeping with the proportions of the earlier Ramcharger. It came together as a pretty strong interpretation that would not look out of place on the roads today.

The modern four-door Ramcharger

The artist did not stop there, however. He recently took the new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX and used it as the basis for a modern interpretation of the old Dodge SUV with four doors. As you can see in the post below, the long roof extends back, and a long window is added in the rear of the side profile. He also added a double panoramic roof to this rendering as well.

That most recent rendering, above, causes people to think funny things, though. For example, we know that Jeep is coming out with the Grand Wagoneer SUV on September 3rd. We also know that it will be based on the Ram 1500 platform. The original Grand Wagoneer was a four-door model. So, the four-door rendering based on the TRX, as above, could be very similar to what might be revealed, from Jeep instead. Swap the Ram grille for a seven-slotted Jeep grille, and we might have a sneak-peek of what the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer might look like. That is speculation, of course.

The thing of dreams

The interest in these renderings shows that there are still people out there that remember the old two-door SUVs. Not surprisingly, some custom shops will occasionally show their two-door conversion projects of the large offroaders on social media. So, the more personal-size SUVs, such as a two-door Ram SUV, certainly have a market out there. But, is it large enough to justify their return. Who knows? For now, we will have to continue to render and dream. Wb.artist20 is certainly helping up imagining what things might look like in the meantime.
