The 2021 LA Auto Show has officially kicked off and is welcoming attendees into the Los Angeles Convention Center. Automakers in attendance are doing what they can to attract people to their exhibits and gain potential customers. It looks like Subaru pulled out all the stops.

Subaru has positioned itself as an automaker friendly to consumers who enjoy the great outdoors and love their pets. To build that brand image, Subaru became one of the biggest automotive donors to the National Park Foundation and to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

The automaker wants fans of outdoor adventuring to think of them as the go-to vehicle for all of their camping and pet transportation needs.

To drive that point home at the 2021 LA Auto Show, Subaru constructed one of the most elaborate exhibits we have ever seen. Effectively, Subaru erected an indoor forest at the LA Convention Center.

Guests approaching Subaru’s exhibit will be greeted by a foliage draped foyer flanked by several vehicles. Then as they enter, they will hear sounds of nature such as a running river, birds chirping, and the wind.

The middle of the exhibit features a custom LCD screen shaped like a river that runs along the floor. Guests will actually walk on top of the LCD as they explore the exhibit. However, we have to issue a warning not to look down!

Since the display features constantly moving video, looking down can cause an instant bout of motion sickness. Trust us on this.

Subaru did not want to stop at the custom LCD screen; the automaker brought in real plants and trees to augment its exhibit. To further increase the immersion, balsam tree scents are pumped throughout the venue. Nearly the entire exhibit smells of Christmas trees. That is sure to get some visitors into the holiday spirit.

There was a dog and puppy pen for pet lovers

Covering the 2021 LA Auto Show was stressful at times, but Subaru came to the rescue with their annual pup pen. Weary guests can enter a sectioned-off area within the exhibit to play and pet some very good boys and girls.

If you’re concerned about the dogs getting too much attention, don’t worry, Subaru swaps out the group of four-legged friends every hour or so.

The star of the exhibit is the Subaru Solterra

As fun as the sights, sounds, scents, and pets are, the exhibit’s focal point is the new Subaru Solterra EV.

The Solterra is Subaru’s first globally released EV and is basically a clone of the upcoming Toyota bZ4X. As you might imagine, the electric SUV received quite a bit of attention. It would not be crazy to assume that many of the specs from the Solterra would cross over to the bZ4X. So, in a way, the Solterra was a bit of a two-for-one.

Subaru did confirm that the Solterra will be AWD and have a range of 2022 miles. However, they stopped short of providing an MSRP or release date.

Between the Solterra, the mind-bending walkable LCD screen, and the adorable dogs, visitors will have plenty to explore should they visit Subaru’s 2021 LA Auto Show exhibit.
