The new 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor has some hidden details throughout the build. While not all of the details have been released by Ford, publications have spilled some of the easter eggs hidden throughout the build.

Is the F-150 Raptor going to be able to stand up against the competition? And by that, we mean the Ram TRX.

What makes the Ford F-150 Raptor different?

Much like contactless menus, you can now apparently scan a QR code on the fender to read up on the Raptor on the Ford website. Though we have not tried it yet, it probably just gives specs and information about the Raptor.

According to MotorTrend, the truck’s rear flank is a large map of the Baja 1000. The Baja 1000 is an off-road race held on the Baja California Peninsula. The race starts in Ensenada and goes to La Paz, Mexico.

While Ford already puts American flags inside the cabin, the company added some extra flags to the Raptor. On the outside of the vent trim, you can find some flags on either side. These are covered in the signature code orange paint.

How much is a brand new Ford F-150 Raptor?

Ford has not announced the price of the 20201 Raptor yet. In comparison, the price of the 2020 Ford Raptor is just under $54,000. Based on some estimates by Car & Driver, the 2021 model is expected to be just under $60,000.

Car & Driver suspects this price because it will only come with a crew-cab body style. “The Raptor also gets a redesigned rear suspension, a new five-link coil-spring setup that replaces the outgoing truck’s leaf springs plus larger internal-bypass dampers.”

In addition, Ford upgraded the tires to 37-inch ones capable of all kinds of off-roading fun. Coupled with the 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, the Raptor is ready to take on anything.

Would you pick the F-150 Raptor or Ram TRX?

The Ram TRX is definitely making waves as some real competition for the F-150 Raptor. The Raptor has generally gone undisputed as the kind of high-performance off-road pickup trucks, but that might change now.

The 2021 Ram TRX has won MotorTrend’s truck of the year. Ram claims the truck is the “most powerful production street-legal half-ton pickup ever built.” But when it comes down to it, which one is better?

The TRX comes in at 702 hp with 650 lb ft of torque. The Raptor is said to get at least 450 hp in comparison. The TRX gets from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and has a supercharged 6.2L Hemi V8. Aptly nicknamed the “T. rex,” the Hellcat engine might be more attractive to buyers.

It also comes equipped with Launch Control and Launch Assist, which help accelerate at a faster speed. The TRX comes with 11.8″ of ground clearance vs. the 13.1 on the Raptor.

And while the Raptor might have some cool easter eggs hidden about, the TRX might win this round. On the airbox cover is an image of a T. rex with a raptor in its mouth.

The TRX is priced at $71,790, but the Launch Edition will cost you an extra $12,150. Your truck preference might come down to brand loyalty at this point.
