The 2021 Ford Bronco is the modern-day revival of one of the most exciting mid-size SUV models ever made. The Bronco nameplate is legendary, and the newest iteration has been met with incredible demand. It turns out the Blue Oval’s newest Bronco isn’t all hype either. The 2021 Ford Bronco just beat the 2021 Ram TRX for a best adventure vehicle award.

The 2021 Ford Bronco is built for adventure

The 2021 Ford Bronco is a great all-around SUV, but don’t get it twisted. This thing is built for adventuring. The Ford Bronco has always been the Blue Oval’s wild child. It plays in the mud, sand, climbs hills, and is even down to wade through deep water with the latest Bronco Everglades trim.

The base model Ford Bronco is competent, but Ford also has produced several different Bronco trim levels for different off-roading scenarios. The Bronco is currently available in seven different trims and has more trim levels on the way. Ford claims the Black Diamond trim is made for adventure off-roading and the Badlands trim is for extreme off-roading. Every Bronco trim has something unique to offer in terms of its features.

The 2021 Ford Bronco surprisingly beat the 2021 Ram TRX for Motor1’s Star Award for Best Adventure Vehicle. The win comes as a shock to automotive enthusiasts because the TRX is the more expensive and more powerful model. The TRX is also much larger in comparison, but a good adventure vehicle doesn’t need to be huge to be fun to drive.

Motor1 chose the 2021 Ford Bronco over the 2021 Ram TRX for the award because the Bronco provided a more enjoyable driving experience. Why? The smaller and more agile Bronco was easier to handle both on and off-road. The Ram TRX’s size and power are both a blessing and a curse. The TRX may be awesome, but it isn’t the easiest to drive. A great adventure vehicle should be easy to use because off-roading can get dangerous.

The 2021 Ford Bronco comes standard with a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 300 horsepower. That’s a lot of horses for a mid-size SUV. Motor1 tested the First Edition trim, which uses the Bronco’s optional twin-turbo V6 engine that makes 330 horsepower. The First Edition comes standard with Ford’s Sasquatch Package. The Sasquatch Package includes 35-inch tires, Bilstein shocks, front and rear locking differentials, and other off-roading additions that make adventuring a breeze.

The 2021 Ford Ram TRX uses the legendary supercharged 6.2-liter V8 Hellcat engine. It makes a monstrous 702 horsepower. The TRX comes with 35-inch tires. It comes standard with Bilstein shocks, a five-link rear suspension, and an electronic locking rear differential. The truck uses coil springs in the front and rear.

The 2021 Ford Bronco is undoubtedly one of the best adventure vehicles on the market. Unfortunately, Ford Bronco models are extremely hard to buy. The Bronco quickly sold out and is currently being resold on platforms like eBay for double its retail price.

The Bronco has major off-roading chops at every trim level. It comes standard with several different off-roading features. The Sasquatch Package takes the Bronco to a whole other level. Best adventure vehicle? Possibly. Hardest SUV to buy this year? Definitely.
