Finding a used luxury sedan for under $20,000 might seem like an exercise in futility nowadays, but it’s possible. A good example is the 2014 Acura TSX, which was the brand’s entry-level car before the ILX appeared. In today’s market, the TSX still presents a good value proposition for anyone looking to get into a luxurious starter sedan without breaking the bank.

Choosing the right 2014 Acura TSX is easy

Unlike many luxury cars today that have a plethora of trim levels to choose from, the 2014 Acura TSX only had a few to choose from. Shoppers could choose between the Technology package model with the 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine or the 3.5-liter V6, a Special Edition trim, or a wagon body style. The wagon only came with the four-cylinder engine and automatic transmission, though.

The Acura TSX had a comfortable but entry-level interior

Although the Acura TSX was considered a luxury, its interior felt very entry-level. Although the materials used were similar to those found in the TL bigger brother, the overall layout still felt very Honda Civic-esque. There’s an overabundance of knobs and buttons on the center console, and some hard plastics can be found around the cabin.

That said, the editors at Edmunds noted that the TSX is spacious and that most of the operations are intuitive as the button layout is “logical.” Those looking for a used TSX can also find an optional navigation system with voice commands and real-time weather updates.

Some of the most notable standard features on the TSX include a dual-zone auto climate control, leather upholstery, a power passenger seat, and a seven-speaker sound system. The Technology package adds a rearview camera, the aforementioned navigation system, and a 10-speaker ELS sound system with a single CD player.

The Special Edition trim level came with a more-aggressive front spoiler, a revised rear bumper fascia, and unique side sill and wheel treatments. Some interior enhancements included faux-suede seat inserts, red stitching, red lighting, aluminum pedals, and silver trim elements.

The TSX had plenty of performance with the right engine

The two different engines we mentioned before were vastly different from one another. The base engine was a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder that produced 201 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque, while the 3.5-liter V6 pumped out 280 and 254, respectively. A five-speed automatic transmission was standard, but a six-speed manual transmission was also available.

As for performance, Edmunds noted that the manual transmission model could go from 0 to 60 mph in an “unremarkable” 7.7 seconds, while the automatic trim level could cover the same distance in a second less. The V6 model, on the other hand, could get up to 60 mph in only 6.4 seconds. So that’s the one to pick if you’re looking for performance.

How much does a 2014 Acura TSX cost today?

According to a nationwide search on CarGurus, you can find a 2014 Acura TSX selling for anywhere between $5,995 to $19,000, depending on the car’s condition, trim level, and location. Overall, the Acura TSX may not be as loaded as some of the luxury cars you’ll find in today’s market, but it’s a great start if you don’t want to spend too much on one.
