You don’t have to wait for the Slate electric truck to arrive for a two-door model. There are two mid-size trucks in America without that pesky backseat and four doors. They only include the basics so you can reminisce about a time when trucks were simpler.

2 mid-size trucks have two-door configurations

Admit it, you want fun two-door trucks to be a thing again. You might look at older Ford Ranger models and wish you could get behind the wheel of a modern truck like that. Instead of waiting for the Slate truck to arrive, consider two modern mid-size trucks instead.

First up, we have the two-door Nissan Frontier. The King Cab is an extended cab with two full-size doors and tiny wing doors. While it’s smaller than the four-door model it still boasts a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque.

It can tow up to 7,510 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,590 lbs. Plus, it’s available with two bed sizes and trim levels to fit your work truck and comfort needs.

Next, we have the Toyota Tacoma two-door model. The Tacoma XtraCab has two full-size doors and smaller wing-style doors to provide access to the storage space behind the front seat.

According to TopSpeed, the Tacoma XtraCab has a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with two power outputs. The standard option has 228 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. But you can upgrade to 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque.

With the more powerful engine variant, you can tow up to 6,500 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,460 lbs. With the standard engine, you can tow up to 3,500 lbs.
