13 people abandon a heavy-duty truck in the Rio Grande during Texas chase
Border Patrol agents were making a routine traffic stop in Laredo, Texas when the situation quickly escalated into a truck chase.
Laredo North agents say people swim across the Rio Grande River from Mexico and enter a heavy-duty truck parked on the Texas side. As agents approached the truck, it accelerated and sped off.
Agents began to chase the massive truck as it took an unexpected turn into the water. The driver and passengers then realized that they made a massive mistake. According to KGNS, as river water overtook the massive truck, it began to sink.
When water began to fill the cabin, 13 passengers jumped out and swam to the Mexican side of the river. The white Ford truck only had seatbelts and property seating for up to six people. It’s unclear how they managed to fit inside.
Luckily, everyone escaped without injury and no one drowned. It’s unclear if any arrests were made. It sounds like all ofthe suspects managed to escape. But now the Ford truck is undrivable due to water damage.
I wonder if a tow truck was able to recover the heavy-duty truck. Also, were any drugs or illegal items found inside? Stay tuned for updates.
