Some kids just can’t wait to drive. So they grab a pair of keys and take off. But one 12-year-old boy took things to the next level by stealing an SUV and driving it for 100 miles. To make matters worse, the Chevy Blazer had a shotgun and weed inside.

Grand Traverse police officers responded to reports of a stolen Chevrolet Blazer around 4:15 am. The SUV was reportedstolen by the owner who shared that his 12-year-old son took it.
His parents tracked the Chevy Blazer and reported the vehicle’s progress to police officers across various counties. When it started heading south one deputy found the perfect position to intercept the young man.
Once the kid saw flashing lights, he pulled over. He stopped on southbound U.S.-127 near westbound U.S.-10 in Grant Township.
Officers searched the SUV and discovered that there were no passengers. However, they located and confiscated a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun with several rounds. They also found some marijuana.
According to M Live, there is no indication that the boy intended to use the weapon. It’s also unclear where the boy was planning to go.

He only shared that he was unhappy at home. Deputies held the boy in custody until his parents arrived to take him back home.
Deputies sent a report to the Clare County Prosecutor’s Officer to petition for the boy to be charged with joy riding, operating a motor vehicle without a license, carrying a concealed weapon, and minor in possession of marijuana.
It’s unclear if he will be charged as an adult. He’s pretty young and children under 17 in Maine are considered to be juvenile. Also, should the parents face charges related to the marijuana?
