If you’ve been looking to get a new truck for 2023, you might have noticed something. Popular models are occasionally selling for over sticker price. And that means if you are hoping to pay MSRP for something, you may be in for a bit of a shock. One truck, in particular, has been impacted by this phenomenon, and that is the Ford Maverick pickup. Find out what kind of Maverick markup you can expect at a dealership.

Are Ford Mavericks selling more than MSRP?

Unfortunately, it is fairly common for the Ford Maverick to go for over MSRP. That is, if you can even find one available at a dealership. Because the demand for Ford’s small truck is so high, folks can sort of charge whatever they want for it. And it doesn’t look like that is making consumers sour on this compact pickup.

According to Forbes, the average Ford Maverick markup is 18.4%. And that means a price increase of about $4,614. That does take away some of the affordability of this truck.

The Ford Maverick is a hard truck to get

If you want a 2023 Maverick, you might be out of luck. The ordering process for this small truck has been pretty volatile. And that makes finding one at MSRP a difficult task. It seemed like as soon as the Blue Oval opened orders for the new Ford Maverick, the brand closed them immediately. Even though this pickup has been out for two years, its popularity has not decreased.

In fact, sales have only been increasing as production goes on. Now, Ford has announced that it will be ramping up how many Mavericks and other popular models like the Bronco it makes. But it is unclear if that will have as big of an impact as we would hope.

Does Ford make trucks worth getting?

Ford has long been one of the top truck manufacturers in the industry. The F-150 is constantly at the top of the most popular vehicles list. And that is because the Blue Oval invests so heavily in this segment. The brand now has a small truck, a midsize truck, and of course, its full-size and heavy-duty options. So, Ford is all in on its pickups.

Since its introduction, the Maverick has been extremely popular. The only real rival it has is the Hyundai Santa Cruz. The Santa Cruz does have a pickup truck bed, but it doesn’t look like a traditional truck. Plus, the Maverick offers legitimate off-road packages.

So, although Hyundai’s truck can tow more, it has not been as hot of an item as the Ford Maverick. It’s also a little more expensive, but it does look like the Santa Cruz feels a bit more premium. And that is certainly something to keep in mind.

At the end of the day, the 2023 Ford Maverick is a good truck. But Maverick markups and supply could be hurting it. Hopefully, the Blue Oval is able to figure out supply issues. That way, folks can get this pickup a little easier.
