That being said, the Ram 1500 is not a perfect truck, and it has its share of issues. Here’s a look at the one thing Consumer Reports didn’t like about the 2022 Ram 1500 full-size pickup truck.

The 2022 Ram 1500 scored well on Consumer Reports’ tests

Since the Ram 1500 is one of the most popular trucks on the market right now, naturally, it also has some good reviews and scores. Consumer Reports gave the 1500 an overall score of 75 out of 100, making it the best truck in its segment. The main reason the 1500 had such a high overall score was its road test score.

Consumer Reports gave the Ram 1500 an 83 out of 100 on its road test, but the truck was dragged down a bit by its predicted reliability score. It only got an average score of 3 out of 5 on its predicted reliability score. In any case, it received a 4 out of 5 from reviewers in terms of its predicted owner satisfaction score. 

The one thing that Consumer Reports didn’t like about the Ram truck

Although Consumer Reports gave the Ram 1500 a pretty good road test score, there was one thing that model didn’t do well on when tested. Fortunately, this was an issue that many other full-size pickup trucks encountered. This issue had to do with the fact that the 1500 has a high step-in to reach its cabin.

This problem comes with the territory of owning a full-size pickup truck. They’re tall vehicles, so this means that some folks might have some issues with actually getting into the truck. With that being said, like many other full-size pickup trucks, the brand knows that this is an issue, and as a result, the Ram 1500 has running boards that’ll help folks get into the truck.

On top of this, the Ram 1500 is a big truck, so its doors will also be pretty big. This means that, while folks aren’t going to have the easiest time stepping into their truck, the doors are so large that it makes it easier to get settled into their seats. 

Things Consumer Reports liked about the 2022 Ram 1500

This high step-in was the only main issue Consumer Reports had with the truck. On the other side, reviewers had many positive things to say about the truck. For example, despite being a big truck, the Ram 1500 has a pretty smooth ride, and its cabin is big and quiet, too. This makes the 1500 a more comfortable truck than many might expect it to be. 

The Ram 1500’s interior also features some lovely infotainment systems that are easy to use. Ram currently offers three touchscreen options, measured at 5.0 inches, 8.4 inches, and 12.0 inches. The 1500’s infotainment system will be very user-friendly no matter which touchscreen customers choose.

Surprisingly another positive attribute about the Ram 1500 is its fuel economy. Its gas engines will not be very fuel-efficient, but Ram offers a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine option. If customers choose this diesel option, then the 1500 will get 23 mpg combined with their truck. This is a significantly better fuel economy than usual, as the base model gets a combined rating of 17 mpg.
