Even though the heyday of the minivan seems to have come and gone for the American automotive marketplace, there is still a loyal consumer base who look to these easy-to-drive and cargo-space-abundant vehicles for a family car they can trust to deliver years and years of service. Recently, iSeeCars released a study on the longest-lasting cars in every single class based on their potential lifespan.

This study was created by analyzing over two million cars sold and produced for at least 10 of the past 20 model years. Here is everything you need to know about this study by iSeeCars and which minivans had the shortest lifespan according to the study.

According to this iSeeCars study, the minivan with the greatest lifespan potential is the Toyota Sienna, with a typical potential lifespan of 239,607 miles. In second place is the Honda Odyssey, with a potential lifespan of 235,852 miles; in third place is the tried and true Dodge Grand Caravan, with a potential lifespan of 209,350 miles. In last place is the Kia Sedona minivan, with a potential lifespan of 208,615 miles.

While the Kia Sedona minivan is the worst-ranked on this list, it is still quite a feat to make this study at all. Remember, to be included in this study, vehicles had to have been produced for 10 of the last 20 model years. With a potential lifespan of over 200,000 miles, the Kia Sedona is still an excellent option for used car buyers looking for a long-lasting minivan to depend on for years to come.

The Sedona nameplate has since been retired

While the Kia Sedona is no longer being produced, the legacy of the Sedona continues today under a different name. Recently, Kia decided to market their products under universal nameplates instead of changing their product names based on the country they are being sold in. Just as the Kia Optima was reintroduced to America as the Kia K5, the Kia Sedona was reintroduced for its fourth generation as the Kia Carnival.

Specs and features of the Kia Carnival

If you want to get behind the wheel of a new Kia minivan, you are in luck. The 2023 Kia Carnival is available all around the country and offers one of the best cargo spaces and interiors in its class. The Kia Carnival starts at $32,900 MSRP and is powered by a smooth V6 engine. The Carnival keeps it simple by only coming in front-wheel drive, but that drivetrain has excellent drivability that feels more like a luxury car when you are behind the wheel than anything else.

Regarding technology and comfort, the Carnival has optional leather upholstery and a huge dual-screen infotainment system. More expensive Carnival trims come equipped with “VIP seats,” which offer full-reclining seats with pop-up footrests.

Whether you are looking to get behind the wheel of a new Carnival, or an older Sedona, you can’t go wrong with any Kia minivan regarding reliability, longevity, and comfort.
