1 Full-Size American Pickup Truck Dropped Its Regular Old 2-Door Cab
The two-door work truck was once a mainstay of the automotive industry. Now, automakers sell virtually no trucks with this “regular cab” configuration. As a result, Ram did not bother to engineer a two-door version of its fifth-generation Ram 1500. But if you really want a two-door Ram, you still have a couple of options.
Does the Dodge Ram 1500 come in two door?
You can’t buy a 2022 Ram 1500 with a two-door “regular” cab. You can buy a newly-built previous-generation Ram 1500 “Classic” with a two-door cab. You can also order a heavy-duty Ram truck with two doors.
Ram rolled out the fifth generation of its light-duty truck for the 2019 model year. This new truck features a heavily upgraded interior. It also boasts an exceptionally smooth ride and responsive handling, thanks to a coil spring suspension setup.
But one option the fifth-generation Ram 1500 does not offer is a two-door cab. You can order the 2022 Ram 1500 with one of two cabs: The cheaper option is the smaller four-door “Quad Cab.” The more expensive Ram cab is the larger four-door “Crew Cab.”
Does Dodge Ram make a two door truck?
When Ram deleted the two-door option for its fifth-generation Ram 1500, it knew fleet owners would still want to be able to order a bare-bones truck. This is why Ram continued offering its fourth-generation pickup as the Ram 1500 Classic. It’s available with a two-door cab for $30k.
The 2022 Ram 1500 Classic is a newly built truck, but it’s not Ram’s most modern offering. Engineering-wise, it has much in common with the 2018 fourth-generation Ram 1500. But its this continuation of the fourth-generation Ram that allows the automaker to offer a regular-cab work truck.
You can, of course, order a Ram 1500 Classic with four doors. If you aren’t attached to the truck’s entry-level price, you can load it up with features such as 4WD and a 5.7-liter HEMI V8. But because the Ram 1500 Classic’s most appealing feature is its low price, we doubt many buyers order it fully loaded.
Do heavy duty Rams come in two door?
You can configure a heavy-duty Ram 2500 or 3500 pickup truck with either a four-door or two-door cab and long or short pickup bed. You can also order a Ram chassis/cab 3500, 4500, or 5500 with two or four doors and no bed.
The fact that you can order a Ram 2500 and 3500 with a standard cab brings these trucks’ MSRPs down considerably. For example, the base 2022 Ram 1500 has 2WD, a V6 engine, and four doors. It starts at $35,900. Just upgrading this light-duty truck with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 bumps its starting price to $39,490.
On the other hand, the base Ram 2500 comes with a two-door “regular” cab, 2WD, and a 6.4-liter HEMI V8. Its towing and payload capacity are much better than that base Ram 1500. And get this, its MSRP is $40,865. The Ram 3500 starts at $42,600. If you want payload and towing capacity and don’t need extra seating, the choice is clear.
